Cycling Hoian to My Son Sanctuary
My Son Hindu Sanctuary, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, is an excellent sample of the ancient Champa civilization in southern Vietnam. It was an independent state from around the 2nd to the 17th century when Vietnam took over. The impressive Hindu-themed ruins feature many beautiful stone sculptures, temples, and towers in the forest jungle. We start cycling from Hoi An, cross the Thu Bon River on Cam Kim Bridge, cycle through the farmlands of Cam Kim Island, experience rural life, enjoy rural scenery, and ride through paddies with ancient agriculture system canals. Then we escape the Island on another bridge to the mainland and continue cycling along the country road, seeing buffalos help farmers working on farms. Ride past a sugar cane plantation along the mountains before we spend an hour and a half exploring the ruined My Son Sanctuary. Have lunch before we return to Hoi An by support vehicle.
